What FinScan reads in a balance sheet

Annual accounts follow a standard format. Each amount carries a heading code: the analysis is built on them, and you can check everything in the official filing.

10/15

Can it stand on its own?

Equity over total assets gives solvency. Below 10%, the company depends heavily on its creditors.

50/58

How many months can it pay?

Cash divided by monthly costs tells how long it holds without new income.

9904

Does it make money?

The result for the year, compared with the previous one, and the cash flow it generates.

17/49

Whom must it repay, and when?

Debts due after and within one year, against what it can raise quickly.

How it works

Read the full methodology
  1. 1

    Filing

Every Belgian company files its annual accounts with the National Bank's Central Balance Sheet Office, at the latest seven months after year end.

  2. 2

    Reading

FinScan downloads the official filing and extracts the headings of the full, abridged or micro format.

  3. 3

    Annotation

An AI computes the ratios, compares them with the previous year and flags what needs your attention. The decision stays yours.
