The service
What is FinScan?
An online service that reads the annual accounts of a Belgian company, filed with the National Bank, and produces an analysis: key amounts, ratios, points of vigilance, a score out of 10, a vigilance level and a detailed report.
Who is it for?
Accountants and fiduciaries, purchasing and sales teams who want to know a partner before committing, buyers and investors, and anyone who wants to understand a Belgian company's situation.
How do I search for a company?
By its enterprise number (10 digits, with or without dots, with or without BE) to start an analysis, or by its name among the companies already analysed. The number is on the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises.
How long does an analysis take?
Usually under two minutes: the time to retrieve the filing from the National Bank and have it read. An analysis already run is shown immediately.
The analysis
Where do the figures come from?
Only from the official filing with the Central Balance Sheet Office of the National Bank of Belgium. Each amount carries its heading code so it can be checked.
Why is turnover sometimes missing?
Small companies file an abridged or micro format, in which turnover is often not published. It is not a negative sign; the analysis then relies on the balance sheet, the result and cash.
What do the score, vigilance level and profile mean?
The score sums up financial health out of 10. The vigilance level (low, moderate, high, critical) says how carefully to read the accounts. The profile (Citadel, Cash Pump, Illusionist, Survivor, Zombie) describes the financial dynamics. The methodology details all three.
Does the analysis compare several years?
Yes, when the filing contains the previous year: amounts are compared from one year to the next. A company page can also group several analysed years.
What if no balance sheet is available?
A recent company, or one that has not filed accounts yet, cannot be analysed. The company page says so.
Plans and quotas
Is the service free?
Five analyses are offered without an account. A free account gives five a month. Reading an existing analysis uses no quota.
What are the plans?
Free: 5 analyses a month. Starter: 25 analyses a month. Business: 125 analyses a month and up to six users. During the beta, Starter and Business are open by invitation.
How do I get an account?
Through the registration page: the request is approved by the team during the beta. An existing user can also invite you.
Can we work as a team?
Yes with the Business plan: members share the quota, followed companies, notes and tags. The account owner invites members and manages their roles.
Reliability
Can the analysis contain errors?
Yes. It is generated by an artificial intelligence, which can misread a document or make a calculation error. Check an important amount in the official filing, and report any error: it will be reviewed.
Does FinScan give advice?
No. It is neither investment advice, nor a credit rating, nor accounting or legal advice. For an important decision, consult a professional.
Can a company request a correction or removal?
Yes, through the contact form. The analysis is reviewed and, if needed, corrected or removed.
Your data
What data do you collect?
Without an account: a random visit identifier and your IP address in hashed form, to count free analyses. With an account: your name, email and encrypted password. No data is sold, no advertising tracker is used.
Who sees my notes and followed companies?
Only your team members. Analyses are shared; your notes and tags never are.
